Jamestown Community Meeting at Sir Hubert Wilkins Function Centre was well attended. A concept to adapt the Jamestown Community School to incorporate Pre-school and Child care was presented at the meeting.
Education works members, discussed making the community school a B-12 facility, giving each child a stable and familiar learning environment.
Architectural drawings for the concept are yet to be drawn, education works has requested the communties approval before a feasibility study will progress.
The study will involve the community school and the pre-school/childcare staff and parents input.
Currently the pre-school has been offered a grant, accompanied by business sponsorship. The money in total will not cover the extension work. A further $30,000 to $40,000 will be required to extend the current Pre-school premises.
If you would like to be able to vote on the decision between a site on the current premises and moving to the Jamestown Community school please make sure you have your 'Membership to the Jamestown Community Children's Centre' forms signed and returned to the pre-school, asap next term. A voting situation will arise early next term. |
